About Us

Mankind has desired to comprehend the universe ever since first gazing upon the heavens, making the study of astronomy among the oldest of the physical sciences. Recent technological and theoretical advances have enabled astronomers to continue to extend their understanding of our universe.

The Department of Physics, Engineering and Astronomy offers a selection of astronomy courses. ASTR 111 and ASTR 112 together comprise an introductory quantitative survey of astronomy; ASTR 111 focuses on the solar system while ASTR 112 examines stars and galaxies. ASTR 311 is a detailed examination of topics in modern astronomy and cosmology while ASTR 312 explores the history and development of astronomy. Further details are available in the sidebar under 'Courses'.

Students wishing to transfer to an astronomy program at another institution need to consult the program requirements of the receiving institution to determine appropriate transfer credit.
