Employers and Associations

Fisheries and aquaculture biologists and technicians play vital roles in cultivating, conserving, and managing aquatic life. Hands-on, applied skills learned in our programs, prepare you for positions in:

  • assessing fish stocks;
  • monitoring fish populations and fish health;
  • collecting water quality data;
  • assessing ecosystem health; and
  • assisting with habitat restoration projects.

Technicians often work outdoors, or in hatcheries. They may support or conduct field research, write technical and scientific reports, and implement policies around conservation practices. Our graduates collaborate with biologists and ecologists, employing scientific techniques to ensure the health and sustainability of aquatic ecosystems. Graduates have opportunities to work with various employers.
