This award is given annually in recognition of the graduating student who has demonstrated outstanding academic achievement (>4.0 overall GPA) and leadership throughout their Bachelor of Science (Biology) degree program. The $1,000 award is supported by Biology Faculty and Biology alumni contributions. Angeline de Bruyns, our 2012 recipient shown below, completed her MSc degree in cancer biology at McGill University in 2014. She was accepted into UBC Faculty of Medicine in 2016 and graduated with her MD from UBC’s Island Medical Program in 2020. Angeline did her residency in Family Medicine in Edmonton, graduating in 2022. Her medical career interests are mental health and addiction, women’s health and primary care obstetrics.
