This endowment remembers and honours an exceptional scientist, colleague, mentor, teacher and friend to many – Dr. Andy Spencer. He was a wise and influential leader in many areas on campus. He was instrumental in establishing institutional guidelines for VIU’s Animal Care Committee and he provided advice on science research infrastructure which will continue to be used in years to come. One of Andy’s many passions was supporting undergraduate and post-graduate scientific research in the natural sciences. The Dr. Andy Spencer Legacy Endowment fund supports a $2,000 annual award for a VIU science student recently accepted into post-graduate studies. The award is given to a student in recognition of outstanding potential for excelling in graduate studies in the natural sciences. The successful student exemplifies Andy’s standards for excellence, and his curiosity and enthusiasm for science.
For more information on the life and career of Dr. Andrew Spencer, an in memoriam was published in Invertebrate Neuroscience.
